Transformers Battlegrounds (PS4)

** Transformers Battlegrounds (PS4)** Transformers Battlegrounds aims to deliver a blend of nostalgia and strategic gameplay, drawing on the beloved franchise's recent "Cyberverse" cartoons. Players control iconic Autobots like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in a turn-based strategy format that echoes the mechanics of popular tactical games such as XCOM. Each character is equipped with unique abilities alongside basic attacks, providing a level of depth that can appeal to fans of strategic gaming. The game requires players to complete story-based objectives, such as rescuing allies and defeating DeceptiCons, using a cover system to optimize their strategies. While the game does introduce customization options and special abilities through gameplay progress, many players have found the mechanics to be slow and tedious, likening it more to a chess match than an exhilarating action experience typically associated with the Transformers franchise. Reception among customers is mixed; some voiced their initial excitement, especially younger players, such as those receiving it as a Christmas gift, while others expressed disappointment in its execution. Critics describe the game as a lackluster representation compared to previous titles like War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron, feeling that it falls short of expectations both in gameplay excitement and overall fun. Ultimately, while it seems to cater to loyal Transformers fans, the lack of innovative gameplay and engaging mechanics could leave many feeling underwhelmed and frustrated. Despite its place in the franchise, Transformers Battlegrounds may not fulfill the hopes of those seeking a thrilling, action-driven experience. **Pros and Cons:** **
