Many reviewers have praised Stephenie Meyer’s ability to deepen the backstory of beloved characters, offering insights into Edward's thoughts and emotions that were previously unexplored. Readers appreciate the book's ability to expand on pivotal moments from the original series, making them feel new and engaging. The nuanced portrayal of Edward allows for a richer understanding of his motivations and struggles, giving the narrative a different dynamic. Some reviewers have highlighted the novel's ability to evoke strong emotions and reminisce over character development. However, not all feedback has been without criticism. Some readers expressed that the pacing felt slower at times, and others felt that the story could have benefited from a bit more action or driving plot points.
