ROLAND FP-10 Editorial Review
The Roland FP-10 is a compact digital piano that has garnered positive recognition for its impressive keybed, extensive functionality, and overall value in the under €500 category. The standout feature of the FP-10 is undoubtedly its high-quality weighted keyboard, which utilizes the same mechanism found in the more expensive Roland FP-30. The tactile feedback from the keys closely simulates that of an acoustic piano, making it an ideal choice for both beginners and advanced players alike. Additionally, the sound output is enhanced by Roland’s SuperNATURAL technology, which offers a diverse range of sounds that are synthesized in real-time rather than played from simple audio samples. While the built-in speakers provide an acceptable sound quality for practice, they do not reach the level of premium models, yet for the price, they deliver a commendable performance. The inclusion of various tones—including multiple pianos, electric pianos, strings, and organs—enriches the playing experience. Users can also expand sound libraries via the companion Piano Partner app, which further elevates the piano's versatility. The FP-10 features standard connectivity options, a user-friendly interface, and practical features like a metronome and sound-splitting capabilities, making it suitable for teaching and learning. Although somewhat portable, the piano’s weight and size may make it less ideal for frequent transport, which suggests that it is best suited for stationary use. Overall, the Roland FP-10 offers an exceptional combination of playability, sound quality, and functionality, making it a solid investment for anyone seeking a digital piano within this budget range. **
