- Helen's Asian Kitchen Japanese Rice Washing Bowl with 3-quart capacity is specially designed for soaking and thoroughly washing rice before cooking. Made from lightweight yet durable stainless steel, this traditional Japanese-style rice washer features a flat solid base that stabilizes the bowl during soaking and washing, while the perforated side strainer keeps smaller foods securely contained and allows water, starch, bran, and debris to drain away easily. The angled side drainer makes draining simple with a quick tilt of the bowl, helping streamline rice preparation for better cooking results. Ideal for brown rice, jasmine rice, basmati rice, wild rice, white rice, sticky rice, sushi rice, short-grain rice, and other varieties, it helps prepare rice recipes that call for soaking before cooking. Simply measure rice into the bowl, add enough fresh water to cover, follow recipe instructions for soaking time, swish fingers vigorously through the grains, tilt the bowl to drain away water, starch, bran, and debris, and repeat until the water runs clear. Beyond rice preparation, it doubles as a multipurpose kitchen strainer for rinsing and soaking quinoa, barley, dried beans, lentils, legumes, berries, sprouts, fruits, vegetables, and other produce. It's also ideal for soaking produce in a vinegar-water solution for more thorough cleaning before use.
