Aksys Games SW-16 Editorial Review
Deadly Premonition Origins for the Nintendo Switch is a port of the cult classic game, known for its quirky characters and Twin Peaks-inspired murder mystery. While the years have been kind to the game's Xbox 360 port, this version unfortunately suffers from sub-par graphics, audio, and gameplay performance. The game runs on the same framework as the Director's Cut, which had issues with slowdowns, missing textures, and compressed audio. The draw distance is shorter, resulting in frequent pop-in, and the pre-rendered cutscenes display artifacts. The gameplay is a mix of smooth indoor environments and choppy exterior environments. However, the additional cutscenes that felt out of place in the Director's Cut have been removed. Overall, while the port is serviceable, it is not the best way to experience this beloved cult hit.
