LinuxFreak Operating Systems Editorial Review
The Xubuntu Linux 14.04 CD offers an alternative operating system for low vision users who are unable to access Windows and find Mac to be too expensive. Unfortunately, this particular version of Linux does not provide any features specifically catered to low vision users. The reviewer mentions trying Linux Mint as well, but found it to be similar to Windows in terms of accessibility. It seems that only Mac offers the "option key with scroll" feature that allows users to zoom in and out of any part of the screen with ease. Another drawback mentioned is the lack of cross-platform compatibility using a thumb drive. The reviewer suggests that the necessary technology for this functionality is not yet available. Despite these drawbacks, some reviewers found the Xubuntu Linux 14.04 CD to be excellent and praised its ease of installation without the need for reformatting the drive. Overall, it appears that the Xubuntu Linux 14.04 CD may not be the best choice for low vision users, as it lacks the necessary accessibility features. However, it does offer a viable alternative operating system for others, with an easy installation process.
